Engagment gift for FI?

Has anyone given their FI an engagement present? I have been thinking about getting him something and I can't come up with anything. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks

I wanted to get my FH a movado watch for our wedding day. But I'm not sure if I want to wait that long. Just an idea.

I got my FI a Nikon Coolpix 950 digital camera. That is what he really, really wanted. He is not a jewerely person and photography is his hobbie. And since then I have gotten him the bag, filters and lenses.

I saw a great gift idea, though a bit pricey. I am thinking about doing it, but the price ranges from 1250-3600 dollars (AAAHHH!) It is called 'the engagement watch' by Christian Bernard. You can view it at TheEngagementWatch.com. The watch comes in two tone or stainless steel. You can get it the following ways: without a diamond, with small diamonds around the face (not found on website costs about $1850) or with a diamond in the center ranging from 1/4 carat to 1 carat (the diamond is in the center of the watch where the hands rotate around). The unique part of this watch is that on the flip-side, where the battery goes, there is an extra flap of metal that pops open. On one side they engrave a picture of the both of you, and on the other they engrave the date you got engaged (or your wedding date) your names, and a nice one line message of your choice. This gift is a bit out of my budget but this watch is unique to Christian Bernard only. I really think it is such a sentimental anf unique gift, and if I can work it into my budget somehow, I'd love to get it for my FI. Just an idea . . .

I got my FI a Tag watch and had it engraved..he is so cute when people look at the ring he will be like look at mine =) I don't think it is something you have to do at all... but it is fun for them!

When we got engaged, I brought my FI a bracelet and chain that the styly had just arrived in the store. He loved it!

I got my fiancee a diamond cut link necklace. I got in the Staten Island mall. It cost $1,000.

I bought my FH golf clubs and he loved them. And they were a higher end than he would have ever bought for himself.

I agree it's not a necessity to give an engagement gift, but if you're in a position to do it, I think it's much appreciated.

I got my FH a gold cross with a chain. His mother passed away a few years ago, so I had her, his, and my birthstones 'embedded' into the cross - his in the middle with hers on the left end and mine on the right end. I engraved our engagement party date on the back.

It was pretty expensive to have done, but it had really special meaning to him, he and his mother were really close. He was speechless when he opened it, and close to tears. It was really touching.

The only problem is - now I don't know how to top it for a wedding gift.

a girl at work is a year from her engagement...she bought her FH a beautiful Movado desk clock and had it engraved with, 'A day to say I do' and under that was their wedding date. It was very nice! Good luck!

We're Irish and my fiance has a real nice claddaugh ring so I took his ring and had platinum cufflinks made that match. He loved them!

I gave my FH a swiss army pocket watch and had it engraved.
