Engagment Parties

Engagment Parties

Ok, Shortly after we got engaged we had a small dinner party at a restaurant for family & close friends. Our wedding is a couple years away and I kinda want to have a party. What should I do I technically already had a party( a dinner party) but now I want a party party- w/ a full meal of course. Just to celebrate. Is it tacky? Will putting ' Your presence is the only Presents desired' tacky.

Please help!

I was thinking of an informal ( the dinner party was 6 courses, quite formal shin- dig) Party Cruise out of freeport.

What do you think?

Well.. who would you be inviting to this party? Would it be people other than who came to the dinner?
Maybe you could do a BBQ or something like that.

To me it sounds like you had an eparty already and I think it would be weird to try to have a second one. It will kind of look like you're hunting for more gifts.
Why don't you have a bug bbq or have a party for an upcoming holiday. That way you can pass it off as just a party of friends and family with no guest of honor, and no need for gifts.

I wouldn't do that. Your guests will think that you are searching for presents. I would just have a BBQ and if you want, you can discuss the wedding plans, etc. but don't make it a formal party.

I agree--

have a fun get together with family and friends but not an offical engagment party since you kind of already did that

Thanks there were 30 people at the dinner so I kinda wanted another celebration, maybe I'll still have a cruise to nowhere party. What do you think of summer boat party just to celebrate nice weather & to have fun. We really don't want to ask for gifts, We just want more of of fam. & friends there to have a good time.

* We live in an apt. and don't have a backyard, so we can't have a bbq, unless we have it @ somone else's house them it just gets too weird.
