Re: engagment party envelopes
We took gifts and put them in the house (party was outside) I think it would be tacky to so that an engagement party- gifts are supposed to be optional for them

I made a card box. It was cute. Decorated it and it worked well.

Re: engagment party envelopes
For my E Party I was going to have a card box but my fmil said that I shouldn't because if someone didn't bring a card (money) or gift they would feel bad - I took her advice and I am glad I did. Everytime someone handed me a card I just walked it over to my grandma and she put it in a bag
If a wrapped gift was given, my step-dad walked it to the car.
I sent everyone thank-you cards within a week and thanked everyone for their specific gift. If someone doesn't bring a gift just send them a thank you card for sharing your special day.

Re: engagment party envelopes
I had a feeling that most of our guests were going to give cards. I actually bought one of those round hat boxes from Century 21 and used that as a card collector. It matched the colors of our engagement party and said 'New York Fashion' or something like that- which I loved.
A lot of people ended up handing their cards to me and I just dropped them in there. We had it set up on one of the tables, but the table had other things on it too, so it wasn't like 'Hey, hand over your money.'

haha! No problem! I didn't even bother with making a place to insert them. I just closed and re-opened the lid when needed. Now I can use that box for whatever I want. Actually one of the better financial choices that I have made throughout this wedding process haha
