My fiance and I are looking to book a venue for our engagment party. I have some questions: Who do we invite? Should it be only close friends and family, or anyone who we want to come? In addition where is a GREAT location (that is not too costly) to have an engagment party? We looked at the following places: Blue Lagoon and Honu in Huntington. Can give me any info.... PLEASE HELP!!!

You can pretty much invite anyone you want to...we invited our parents (obv), family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc), bridal party, and close friends of both ours and our parents'. If you are looking in Huntington, also try Tutto Pazzo (towards Halesite, across the street from the Harbor by Prime). Tutto Pazzo was my top pick before we decided to have it at FILs house. Meehan's also has a private room too, as well as Prime - but I know Prime is insanely pricey ($80 pp w/o alcohol ) Mac's Steakhouse also has a private room upstairs.... Cant think of anything else right now - but good luck!

do either of these places allow a DJ? private room?

We had our eparty at the West Sayville Country Club and we invited family and close friends....it was almost everyone we had at the wedding (we had a small wedding) but we did leave some friends out of the eparty but not many

In regards to Honu, I called them, but I have a very busy schedule so I keep missing their calls! Its like phone tag...... When I went to the website, they have a party room that only hold about 50-55 people, but they can also close the entire resturant and you can have a private party there also. Hopefully on Monday, I can speak with someone, to get an idea price and I can let you know. In regards to the other location, I didn't research that yet.... Sorry

I had my engagement party at mediterrean manor in Patchogue in October of 2009. They did a great job! We had it on a sunday during the day and invited bridal party, immediate family and some very close friends. We hired a dj since they have a dance floor and we had a buffet and a viennese table. The only reason we did all of that is bc we got a great deal since my FH's mom got married there.

If your not having a huge party look into Blue. Its in Blue Point (not sure if thats too far east for you) I had mine there and the food was great, so was the service and they rented out the whole restaurant to us.
