It's not obnoxious at all, if guests find that they can make the rain date...then great. You are providing an option b/c you want to be able to celebrate your engagement the way you would like to. I think it's a great idea! AND, I hope you do not need the rain date to begin with

Re: Engament Party Rain Date ?
Honestly, I wouldn't put a rain date. My family has had two parties in our backyard and both days it ended up raining, but we were okay because we rented a tent. Everyone still came and had a great time at both parties - and everyone left dry thanks to the tents!

I would think it would be okay if most people are local.

Re: Engament Party Rain Date ?
i had my eparty on 7/7/7 in a backyard and we put a rain date for 7/8/7... luckily it was the most beautiful day we would ask for but it prevented mass confusion just in case it did rain AND ALL of my family thought it was a good idea!

Re: Engament Party Rain Date ?
we're having our engagement party in september and the party is going to be outdoors under a canopy/tent. i am praying for good weather since the place doesn't allow for rain dates and there is a beautiful view of Manhattan and the Verrazno Bridge (the place is in Staten Island). Try renting a tent to give you piece of mind :)
