Is it rude/presumptuous to have one of those envelope collection boxes (like a birdcage- but I'll be using something else instead) for people who bring us cash gifts to our eng party?
Or should I have a cousin hold a nice bag of some sort that she can put the envelopes in when I hand them to her so it's more subtle.

Re: envelope box at eng party?
I would def do one.. I did and thank god I did.. I couldn't have ever carried all of those cards.
ALSO, some halls have a box there and a security guard you can pay to watch the box..

I would go the sudtle route. If you have a collection box it will seem like you had the party to get gifts/money and not just to celebrate your engagement.

I would have one! It kind of the same as having a gift table. And since you are more than likely going to have one of those, you might as well have a place for monetary gifts!

I would do it secretly, because your not supposed to recieve gifts at an E-Party traditionally, so it might make some people feel uncomfortable who didnt bring a gift.

We had one for the eparty. I made it myself. It looked more like a gift instead I made a slit on the back and that is where FH and I put the envelopes through. No way was I allowing anyone else to hold on to those cards. And I didn’t want to hold them all night.

To be honest with you, no one knew that it was a gift box.. it looked like an actual gift.. it didn't have a sign on it or anything.. and like Patty said, you will be having a gift table, why not a box there so you can drop your cards as well>

Re: envelope box at eng party?
I wasn't planning on doing a gift table either- for the same reasons. But what should I do with people bringing presents? I know that most are- but like someone said- I don't want those that didn't to feel bad.
I'm not having the party at a hall. It is an outdoor tent party behind a vacant huge house on the water. I guess I could make trips inside the house to put the gifts in a room but I don't think the rooms lock and wouldn't want presents to go missing. Plus, it may be annoying to keep running back inside to put the gifts away.

I love the present idea! It does the job and nobody knows.
