How does everyone feel about having a place for guests to put envelopes? Is it necessary?

I ordered mine from Lillian Vernons (14.95) because I dont want to carry anything.

I am having one, but it is not for guests to put the envelopes. The guest will give them to me and I will put them in the box, so I don't have to carry them around or worry about losing any of them.

I think you should have one, but make sure to get envelopes from the guests and don't just have them put it in the box. That would be in bad taste!!! Make sure to put the box on a head table with mother and father or other close trusted family in the spotlight. I hate to be the bad person, but I have heard of people stealing from weddings!!

i like the idea of having place for guest to put it, but i personally would feel like i might be asking for stuff by doing it... i like the idea of putting it aside where just you can reach it.

butterfly20, if you plan to have a small table for gifts, that would be the perfect spot to place the box. But dont worry about it looking like your asking for it. I think that would be the last thing people think....

I have seen people be creative and have thier envelope box be part of the decoration if there is a theme. Like a crab catching create for a beach wedding. A snow ball with mr. and mrs. snowman for a winter wedding. These I saw guest just put the envelopes in themselves.
