Re: Envelopes
Depends on how much you want to spend on it.
If you can print directly on the envelope that would be nice - beware paper jams! Clear labels are great if you can't do that.
Calligraphy is great too.
Price difference.. HUGE.
We are going with calligraphy because we spent a lot on invitations already, and figured we might as well do the outside to match the inside properly.
We are NOT going with the above because we're having ours done by the same person who is doing the hand calligraphy part for our letterpress invites - she is under contract with our invite company. FM me if you want the info, but she's ridiculously priced so that's why I won't mention her here. We're getting her because the calligraphy will match part of our actual invites that she will do with our invite company, otherwise I'm unsure if we would use her. Her writing is gorgeous though. So so unbelievably gorgeous IMO. We're making sacrifices to have her do the calligraphy but FI and I love paper stuff, we both can be stationary freaks, so to us it is worth it. And she's really really busy which is a worry.

Re: Envelopes
I would have loved to print directly on the envelopes but they were too thick to go through so we got decently sized clear labels and found a nice calligraphy font online.

Re: Envelopes
Since the invites are DIY, I plan on printing directly on the envelopes in a nice old english font. I am getting the envelopes separately and we have an AMAZING photo printer that is as good if not better quality that some professionals.

This is basically exactly what I'm going to do - the only difference is that we're using a vintage script font, and I'm printing the envelopes in light greyscale, then tracing over with a calligraphy pen

Re: Envelopes
Try Creative Pen Calligraphy if you don't want to print it out.
They also have a facebook page with samples so you can contact them from there as well. They do envelopes and escort cards. Tell them Danielle sent you!
