Hello ladies - another question! I was reading an article (I think on the knot) that says proper etiquette is to hand-write the addresses on the envelopes (either doing it yourself, or paying a calligrapher) and that they should NOT be printed on a computer. I have never heard of this. Before I read this, I was going to have my invitation store do them. They send them out to be printed (I think computer-printed), but they look great (in script, or calligrahpy, or whatever 'font' you want). Addressing them myself is out of the question and I just don't see the wisdom of hiring a calligrapher when professional computer printing looks excellent. Is this tacky, or can I do it?
Of all the invitations I've gotten in my life, I certainly do not remember even NOTICING if they were hand-done or computer-printed...so for me it is not a big deal...but if it is breaking all rules of etiquette, I'd like to know. TIA!

some people are so caught up in their own world is crazy!! i wonder if they follow every single wedding related etiquette out there.. also bear in mind.. not everyone follows YOUR etiquette.. there are people of different nationalities and religions on this board.. so what is acceptable to you may be totally unacceptable to others!!!
sorry.. this is my first 'annoyed' post..
eta: typos
My parents did get married in another country and they had about 450 guests, dont ask how bc it amazes me but they didnt even send out invitations. People just didnt do it and somehow it worked lol, maybe it was easier that way now though people do send invites and are doing alot of the american wedding customs but i just found that part crazy.

WOW, I did not think this post would get so long, and I certainly did not mean to create a stir. I just wanted some opinions on handwritten vs. printer. I do appreciate the lively discussion and all the opinions though
And this thread is a good example of the fact that when you ask for opinions, you GET THEM, good or bad!!! But that's the point, right?
