I'm very offended by the jokes, not by the picture! We are not dumb in South America, our countries look pretty much the same as the US w/o the skyscrappers!

I don't think ayone was picking on South America for fun - but clearly the picture depicts a man in a latino country. If the man on the pole was asian, I may have said 'Japanese Fear Factor.'
