epidural

Hi

Wondering if any ladies out there had adverse reactions to their epidural after the pregnancy...

I had to be shot up twice...the first time didnt work...I had a splitting migrane over my left eye once I began the active labor process, and it has yet to leave, even with the perscribed meds...

I am trying to figure out if tis could be in anyway related to the epidural...I have NEVER had migranes before...

Any input would be much appreciated

THANKS!

Re: epidural

Absolutely. I do believe headaches can be a common effect from epidurals. I had a c/s so I had a spinal, but no headaches. I would call your OB and let them know.

There is a special procedure you need to have done if you are now having headaches after the epidural. Call your OB today...it is when they need to put blood into the area. My doctor told me to tell them if I had any headaches because of this.

Re: epidural

I had an adverse reaction to my epidural. I had such bad headaches for 4 days afterwards with vomiting, light sensitivity,etc...I could barely stan up to take care of my new baby. I went back to the hospital and I had a spinal leak and they had to a procedure called a blood patch on me where they take blood from your arm and inject it where you had the pidural to clot off the leak. My headaches instantly went away.
Unfortunately, I ended up with an infection afterwards and a 104 fever so I was BACK in the hospital again for 5 days on IV antibiotice.
I guess you could say I had a rough postpartum recovery.

Re: epidural

uugh, that sounds horrible!!!

They had me seen by a neurologist and gave me a CAT scan before they would release me from the hospital, and all was OK, or I wouldnt have been able to leave...

I go back to the Dr. tomorrow, but will call again today. The headaches are localized in the same position that they first started when I started pushing during labor...the meds only work for so long, as soon as they wear off the same type/intensity of pain comes back :(
