ering again

ering again

So my tension set center stone is loose AGAIN. I just got it tightened before Christmas. Ugh, I don't know what to do! Do I just keep getting it tightened, or should I try to get a new setting? I LOVE my setting, but this is not the first time its done this

Sorry, just wanted to vent and get some opinions.

Can you take it to the jeweler and ask his/her opinion? Tell them that you love the setting, but you're afraid of losing the center stone. Maybe they can recommend something without changing the entire look of the ring...

Yes, we did that already, they said that there isn't much they can do for it. It just sucks because i my setting, but its 40 bucks every time I get it tightened and I'm really afraid of losing the stone.

I think I will just have to stop wearing it to work

Did the jeweler say why it kept getting loose? How upsetting!

no, they did say that it happens with the tension settings a lot. I'm thinking that maybe its because I take gloves on and off all day at work

Aww, thanks There is a similar setting on blue nile where FH got this one that has prongs. The thing I love about this setting is that the diamond sits down flush with the band, but the one with the prongs sits the diamond up much higher, which with the gloves is still a pain in the butt. ugh. stupid job is ruining everything

The same thing happened to my sister , she had 2 rows of small diamonds that were tension set and she ket loosing little stones right away. she brought it back to where she got it and wa like ***. and they told here its the nature of those settings and there is nothing they could do about it. so they let her exchange it.

if you love your setting what about having them possibly make having the setting tweeked so that the diamonds arnt tensioned they are actually set.

I would try to get another setting. I have heard that tension settings are supposedly more secure than traditional prongs....maybe there was a manufacturing defect or something?
