ering question...im so torn

disclaimer: I love my ering, i picked it out, FH got it, its perfect.

My mom recenlty gave me her ering from my dad (he passed) and i have some loose sapphires (my fave stone) and i was going to have it made into a necklace...

so then i was thinking, her ering is a little bigger and better quality and has sentimenal value (bc it is from my dad), maybe i would switch the diamond in my ering and use the one from FH in my necklace (which i would wear all the time, and i would still have)

At first FH was like umm thats not a good idea, bu then he was ready to buy me a bigger center stone when whitehall was having their closing sale (but it didnt work out, the new diamond was worse quality) and we have talked about upgrading in the future, and this way i wouldnt have to trade in my stone, i would always have it in my necklace.

so i have three options, what should i do?
option 1: keep the original stone in the original ering and put moms diamond in necklace.

option 2: keep original setting (tiffany style 6 prong 2mm solitare) and put in new diamond (new head to accomodate new stone, and sotter to my ering)

option 3: get new setting for moms diamond...and make necklace just saphhires and have 2 erings to switch bakc and forth

You could go either way. I would probably choose the stone that's your Moms and put in the ring and then put your stone in a necklace. But the idea of having two rings is cool too. You could do one solitaire and then one more ornate style like antique or something like that...

Could you use the stone from your mom's ring to make a right hand ring?

This is a good idea too. Maybe like a three stone with sapphires on each side!

I would probably keep your ering and use your mom's stone or just size your mom's ring and use it as a right hand ring

MMM, then if you were planning to upgrade just use Mom's stone for the Ering and just make a necklace with the one he originally gave you. I think that will be your best bet!

I would use your mom's diamond and put it in your e-ring and use the diamond he gave you, and make it a necklace. You could always say what Carrie said 'You want it close to your heart' its a cute saying

Are you sure he is completely okay with changing everything? Just make sure b/c he might say its okay- but it might hurt his feelings? Trust me, Im not one to judge at all, and I totally understand wanting a new ring- but I was just thinking maybe changing the whole ring entirely, might be too much at once. You can change the stone now, and then next year or something if you want to change the band so that he doesnt feel like you didnt like it at all? You have to do what makes you happy bc you have to be IN LOVE with your e-ring...but just make sure that FH is okay with it

Hey D!!! I'm going to Namaste tonight at 7!!! I'm hooked!!! You rock and have saved me! About the ring, I personally would want the put the stone from my mom's ring into my e-ring right away. What a great thing to always have with you, it means so much. I would have the stone from your e-ring made into another ring with the sapphires. I think that way it could stay as close to what it originally was for your FH's sake. Good luck!!! I'll see you Thursday!! Or come tonight if you can!!!

I just wanted to add that I don't think this is changing it just because you want to change it, or upgrade it or something. This is putting the diamond from your mom's e-ring into yours, so you can have a piece of your father with you every day, while honoring your FH (soon to be DH!!!) and your commitment to him as well. This is an amazing thing, and FH should be happy for you and support you in this!!!
