Etiquette

If you invited a friend with a guest to your wedding and they are not in a relationship, how would you feel if they brought a friend of the same sex with them to keep them company?
I find nothing wrong with it since they were invited with a guest and it does not specify male or female but my friend thinks otherwise

Re: Etiquette

When we did our guest list we invited just about everyone we knew who would have or have a significant other with a guest-One of my friends I invited with a guest because she isnt going to know many people there so I dont care who she brings. I just want her to be comfortable.

So I think it really depends-if she isnt going to know anyone most likely its going to be hard for her to enjoy herself.

I wouldn't have problem w/ it at all. Whomever she feels comfortable w/ is alright w/ me.

I agree with, whoever they feel comfortable bringing. I have been to so many weddings where friends of mine did not have a significant other and brought a girlfriend instead of a guy as a date. If you invite someone with a guest, you are really leaving that open & there is a chance it is going to happen.

what's the big deal about having the '& Guest' be someone of the same sex??? i don't know what 'etiquette' rules your friend is following--sounds rather close minded to me. so i must assume that if she had any gay friends who had a significant other, that she wouldn't want them to bring their partner? that's odd

i say if you allow someone to bring a guest....who are we to determine that the guest must be of the opposite sex? let them bring who they are comfortable with. because let's face it, our guests must fend for themselves...we will come by and do meet & greets and such, but most of the time is them with their 'date' and other guests.

my sister was invited to a wedding in westchester last summer, and i was very happy to attend it with her, and we had a blast!

I agree.

I personally wouldn't mind if the guest is the same sex as the person I'm actually inviting! If this is his or her wish, go for it!

I don't see anything wrong with it I have taken girlfriend along to other wedding when FH did not want to go..its still two people.

People sometimes don't like to come alone so I see nothing wrong with it.

I wouldn't have a problem with it at all. I want all of our guests to have fun and be comfortable. So if they will have a better time bringing a friend of the same sex rather than a 'date', I say go for it! Doesn't matter to me!

I wouldn't have a problem with it IF you invited your friend and your guest.... which is what you said.

I would have a problem with it if I only invited friends and friends with Significant others (which we are debating) - and then the friend said, can I bring this girlfriend....

but in your circumstance, I would think thats totally fine, ESPECIALLY since you are ok with it!

I think its fine as long as they are invited with a guest. The invite doesn't specify who the guest is.

It's a different story if the person isn't invited with a guest and wants to bring a friend.

Since space is limited where we're having our wedding we're only allowing guest to bring a date if they are:

-Married
- Engaged
- Living together

If having a addition people is not an issue for you, what's the difference if the person is of the same sex or not?

i agree the person should be in a relationship, but i think it depends on the person as well, how close you are too them, if they are family. we are limited also for the guest list also so only a couple of people with out relationship are going to be given that option.
