Etiquette Advice?

Etiquette Advice?

I have worked closely w. my boss for over 2 years now, and we are on good terms. Today he came into work late, and told me this afternoon that his wife had a miscarriage. I feel so bad for him, I know that he really wants to be a dad. I mean my heart is really breaking for him and his wife. I wanted to get him a condolence card or something, but I am not sure if that is appropriate. No one else in the office knows, and I feel so bad that he is here dealing w. dumb work stuff when going through this. Should I get him a card for him and his wife??

I was in a very similiar situation. My boss was pregnant but no one knew yet. One day she came out of the bathroom and was flipping out. At that point she told me that she feared that she was miscarrying and she left to go to the doctors. She was out of the office for the next day or two.

I sent flowers and a card to the house - with a simple note letting her know I was thinking about her during this difficult time.

No one else in the office ever knew what was going on.

hmi...I think you could get a 'thinking of you' card... or a blank card...with a nice note in it

A co-worker's wife just miscarried and I'm not sure what to do either?

I've had this happen to friends/co-workers many times unfortunately. I've always sent a thinking of you card, and wrote a simple note inside. I think in cases like these, little gestures say a lot.
