Etiquette on how to address save the date envelopes??

Hi Girls,

I'm pretty lost on this one & I need your help.

What is the proper way to address the Save-The-Date Envelopes?

I have family and friends that we are inviting to the wedding “and guest”. With that said my mother-in-law suggested sending the Save-The-Dates the same way. I think it may look weird on the envelopes.

What do you girls think????

i would not write and guest, because its not an invite, just a std. Just my opinion though, i am not sure what etiquette officially dictates

I would just send them to the households, not like you're addressing invitations.

Yeah, I was actually going to just send them out to the person I'm actually inviting.

If they know they'll bring a specific guest, chances are I'm inviting them personally. If they don't have a specific guest, and I'm allowing a guest, they'll have weeks in between to scrounge one up if they choose to use the guest option.

Since the purpose of the STD is jut that, to Save the Date, and the wedding isn't for a while, who knows who they're gonna want to bring? Therefore 'anonymous guest' doesn't need to be notified, right?

This is just my rationale, though. I find I've been throwing 'proper etiquette' out the window with non-obvious stuff like this.

I am SO glad you asked this question! I've been trying to figure the same thing out. Although we didn't invite people with guests unless they were in relationships or living together. We just don't have the room (guest list is 275 without single people invited with a guest). But like I have friends who live together (boyfriend/girlfriend and fiances). How do I address both of those? Like if John Smith and Jane Doe live together, do I address the STD just like that?

As for the invitations, for people invited with guests that don't live together, the invitee's name goes on the outside envelope and then the inside evelope gets both the invitee and the guest.

Thank you ladies!

I feel the same way, and I'm going to do just that. It's only a STD and on the formal invite I will address and guest.

Oh' and I really like the idea of and guest being on the inside of the invite. I think that will make the invite look more classy.

So finally I'll be able to mail these STD this weekend. Thanks a million!

i wouldnt write and guest on the std envelope... if you are inviting ppl that live together or are engaged i would do either of these

Jane Doe & Joe Smith
address

or

Jane Doe
Joe Smith
address

of course putting the person closer or originally known... like if it was my cousin Joe i would put his name first
