Re: etiquette question

I plan on inviting with guest so people aren't left alone but many people invite singles w/o guest to cut back the guest list.

its up to you, i plan on doing it but i dont htink it is neessary. most of our friends have significant others, so it would only be a few people who didnt. we would feel bad leaving them out. it's not necessary though. it might depend on the person. maybe you can just ask them if they think they will have a date that they might want to bring, and go by that.

Re: etiquette question

i have been invited to weddings without a guest when i was single but when in the bridal party i was invited with a guest.. either way i never brought anyone!
i'm inviting everyone with a guest.. but most of my friends are married/engaged.. so the couple that arent i'm just going to invite with a guest..

Re: etiquette question

the majority of my friends are single and and at past weddings a few have been known to take along friends (not dates) as their plus one. While this is not the end of the world to me, i just wonder what etiquette says. thanks ladies.

Everyone does it differently...Depending on budget or limited space some people dont invite them with a guests, its completely up to you.

I am inviting everyone with a guest.

Thats what i did for my e-party...i just wanted to get an estimated amount of how many guests we will have so i just asked my single friends if they were bringing a date, i told them that they are getting invited with and guest so if later on down the road they want to bring someone its ok...Most of our single friends said they are not bringing anyone, so it doesn't hurt to just ask

Re: etiquette question

I'm inviting all single people with a guest.

Unless your guest list is out of control, I think all adults should be invited with a guest. There is one exception in my family, and that is my aunt who was widowed last year. I think she'd die laughing if we invited her with a 'guest.'

When I was single, I never brought a 'date' to a wedding where I knew other people or where my family would be there. I was always invited with a guest, though.

I read in martha stewart weddings once that you are only requiered to invite with a guest if they are engaged, or living together, or have been in a long term relationship. Otherwise it is not rude not to invite them alone. And I want to point out that my mom and dad met at a wedding. If they had had dates- I would not be here.

Re: etiquette question

It really depends on your budget and meeting your RH minimum. I personally am inviting with guest. I always hated being solo at a wedding.

Re: etiquette question

This was a tough one for us. We ended up looking at each guest on a case by case basis. We invited friends w/ no SO that weren't going to know anyone at the wedding with a guest, but pretty much everyone else without. We had a hard time going through, but I think you just have to examine each person and remember that it's your day and you should do what makes you happy.

Re: etiquette question

Unfortunately we don't have the $$ to invite all of our single friends with a guest. If they have a signifcant other at the time we send out invitations- then they will have a plus one, if not- no extra. All of our friends still hang out so no one is left all alone. It may seem harsh, but we just can't afford it- we already have around 250 on our list

Re: etiquette question

This is something that is often debated on these boards. I am inviting single friends and family with dates but I am keeping my wedding really small and think maybe it's easier because FI and I both have small families. I have seen posts of other brides with larger families who have to not invite some people with guests this to keep their guests lists smaller. I have been invited to weddings with dates and without, I have not been upset or insulted when I was invited solo. I can see it from both sides so I guess you should just do what you think is best based on your budget and guest list and situation. Good Luck

Re: etiquette question

it's not necessary. personally i'm probably going to invite most of my single friends with a guest. there are only about 4-5 of them though (and 3 are in the wedding party) so i think it would be even more awkward for them (and kinda rude on my part since they're some of my best friends) if they were the only ones without dates. but as i said it's not necessary and it depends on the situation. hth!

Re: etiquette question

My FH and I discussed this one and heres the conclusion we came to: we decided that we would make the guest list first , with singles as singles and see what it came to. If we could afford it then we would, making sure that we wouldnt be leaving out any prominent family, friends, etc, as the list would pile up in sets of 2. We have 150 minimum and can really go up to 200 absolute max. Since I am getting married on the sunday memorial day weekend in 08 and having and eve wedding, Im assuming Ill get more NOs than I would a sat eve. Were still working on it, although with the higher chance of more NOs, well probably put with guest.
