I know people have mixed opinions about honeymoon registries. Our parents didn't want us to do it because they felt it was too similar to asking for money, even for the wedding registry. That being said, would it be inappropriate to put up a few gift certificates on our registry--like for a spa or restaurants? What about an entertainment book? Thank you for your feedback!

Re: Etiquette Question
I dont think thast inappropriate at all. Its customary for people to give money anyway, and thats something that you would spend your money on. Plus its YOUR wedding. I actually think thats a great idea. Older generations would prob be against it bc its not traditional.

Re: Etiquette Question
I think (at least my friends) really like to give experiences.
So weather it is a dinner out, or an activity, I think (at least my friends) that people like to know that you are going to enjoy what they give you
Even at my Shower my friends (mostly ages 25-32 and single or recently married) gave mostly gift cards and HM Registry items instead of physical items. They knew I would enjoy that more than a plate, in all honesty!

Re: Etiquette Question
I totally get why people do this, and I get that it's a new day and age and all that stuff, but I guess I'm a bit old school in that dept. I agree with your parents...
I'm sorry, I'm sure you don't really wanna hear this, but IMHO, it's in poor taste. I don't know if I'm thinking too much into it, or whatnot, but I know for a fact if we did this, both my parents and FILs would tear us a new one.
They'd either end up contributing to our HM, or make us pay for it using money we got from the wedding, but they'd never allow us to register for a HM so that other people can directly pay for us to have a luxurious trip.

Re: Etiquette Question
I can totally see both views. If you really think about it, a registry for appliances and utensils is asking for gifts just as much as registering for a honeymoon. The only difference I see, is that with a standard BBB registry, people know they are not getting duplicates. With a honeymoon registry, people are just contributing.
I didn't do a honeymoon registry because at first, I thought it was tacky. But after thinking about it, I regret not doing it - we probably won't even be going on a honeymoon now, due to finances.
It's really your call ... Wish I had some better words of wisdom for ya ...

It's not too late for HM planning - you didn't have your shower yet right? I did mine HM registry thru Liberty Travel....you could register thru them -see how much you get and put towards a trip of your dreams - whether it be now - or later....I don't think it's in poor taste - infact most people think it's a really unique idea....people are spending money anyway - it's not a secret - so why does it matter if it's 100 dollar set of sheets - or a 100 dollars towards my experience in Monte Carlo? That's what I say!!!!

This is exactly why I see both points of view! No shower for me yet, do you think its a good move to start the registry now?
