I am trying to make my very first purchase on Etsy. When you 'conversation' a seller and they respond back, do you get some sort of email alert????? Or do you have to keep checking your account?

you get an email showing their response but it doesnt let you respond unless you go back to the website

Yes you get an email that lets you know that the seller has contacted you.
