Paris----I posted this here before!
1- Best place to take a picture of the Eiffel Tower is at Trocadero.
2 - One the best walks to the Arc de Triumphe is to take the metro to the Louvre stop in there to see the Mona Lisa then walk up Rue de Rivoli b/c this is where all of the tourist shops are located and it's covered. If you like you can walk along that street all the way down to the Obelisk which is a tall looking pole surrounded by fountains and then you can walk straight up Champs Elysee to the Arc. Along the Champs there are some boutique shops, places to eat and a couple of clubs.
Or from the Louvre you can walk through the Jardin de Tuileries straight to the Obelisk and then to the Arc.
3- Remember that you can sit in any café for as long as you like. You can order a coffee or hot chocolate and sit all afternoon if you want. It's not like here where they rush you out to get the next person in the door. Many cafes have outdoor seating with heat lamps for the winter time.
4- I recommend stopping in as many bakeries as you see and trying something in each one. Every bakery has different pastries and some better than others. Do not diet while you are there. Enjoy the foods.
5 - Street vendors or little windows have great Panini's to eat on the go or sitting in the park. The Crepes are delicious as well! They have such a variety of fillings. One of my favorites is Nutella and bananas.
Yummy!! I'm getting hungry now for one of those meals.
6 - If you have time try to catch a show at the Moulin Rouge. We did this on our night of engagement. Montrematre is considered the red light district. During the day you can take a nice walk to Sacre Couer (Sacred Heart Church). If you walk behind it you will come across a square of artists and street vendors. You can have them do a portrait of both of you. At night there's a lot of nightlife in the area.
7 - Don't waste your time at George Pompidou Center. It the museum of modern art and it's boring as hell.
I stayed in the business district., at Sofitel Arc de Triumpe, Only reason we stayed there is b/c my job hooked me up with the place. I can recommend you stay in the Latin quarter otherwise known as the 5th . Paris is broken up by sections and the fifth is where all college students live, you'd be close to the river Seine, Notre Dame and many shops. There's some shops on Boulevard St. Michel, Boulevard St. Germain. There's also some shopping near the Sorbonne University. It's more like shopping in small stores rather than Fifth Avenue. But if your looking for Fifth Avenue shopping I can tell you where that is too.
The good thing about staying near the Seine is that it puts you in the middle of Paris and you can easily go between the left and right banks. You can walk along the Seine to various museums like the Musee D'Orsay (Lots of Vangogh) which used to be like Grand Central Station but was converted into a Museum. If the weather is nice and you enjoy walking you can walk all the way to the Eiffel tower but that is a hike. Check out this site http://www.pariswalkabout.com/html/walks.htm

I’ve been to London and Paris...and with Paris, you should definitely try to go to the Moulin Rouge! So much fun—very pricey! You usually have to buy tickets, but my friends and I (we were all backpacking) just walked in and said we had reservations and just got ourselves seated. Every person gets half a bottle of champagne and we were oh so pleased with ourselves because we thought we somehow skipped the paying part—but no, they come around during the end of the show and get ya! Definitely a good show, and very exciting to be able to say that I’ve been there!

its a great guidebook., it tells you the best spots for everything., and it has different maps, directions , and recommendations depending on the type of trip you want., for example if you have kids it gives you a map for child-friendly activities., or night-life., etc.

Re: Europe
I was just in Prague Last year, and it's beautiful!! Prague is pretty small so you can pretty much see everything in 2 days.
Here are so pictures from our trip. Also food is very very reasonable, $30 for a bottle of wine, appetizer and 2 main course (Salmon and this steak thing they cook in front of you).

In London go to Big Ben, the London Bridge, Picadilly Circus, Harrods and the British Museum. In Paris go to the L'ourve, Eiffel tower, champs ellyses and l'arc de triumphe (I'm so misspelling all these things!).

So awesome that you went on the night you got engaged!! I was actually kinda surprised with the toplessness—the dancers just come out topless. For some reason, I thought there was going to be a striptease before we got nudity!
Did you see the act with the woman in the water with the snake?

Re: Europe
IF you're in London and like museums at all definitely go to the Victoria and Albert museum. They have the clothes and furniture and some of the jewels of many royals and other cool stuff from hundreds and hundreds of years ago. I think it can be more interesting than the paintings because you see how people really lived...
Also, go to the London Opera House and the National Portrait Gallery.
All the museums are free there so you can go spend 20 minutes or 4 hours and not think anything of it.

Re: Europe
Oh, I would also recommend day trips to places in the countryside…like with Paris, we went to Chartres, which was just a nice little train ride. Does anyone know if it’s possible to take a daytrip from London to Stonehenge?
