So I am really stressing trying to figure this all out... for brides having an evening ceremony - how are you planning on getting day time photos in there? Our ceremony is at 730pm in January, so it will probably be dark by 5. The photo package I am looking to have covers 9 hours with a photographer, but I want to get some pics of getting ready, then reveal pics and daylight pictures with the BP, family, FH and I, etc. Reception ends at 1AM. Will the venue allow us to cut the cake shortly after dinner? I'm hoping to do dinner at 10, cake cutting at 11, this way the photo/video can leave by 11:30.
How do you work all this out?? I feel like I can't book my photo/video before figuring out times for cake cutting with the venue, but not even sure they will entertain that yet.
Please give me some advice, suggestions. I'm going crazy trying to figure this all out!!

can you add a couple of hours to your package? I only ask because I found that the best pics and video segments are the ones that take place on the dancefloor when the party really gets wild and crazy.... At my sister's wedding, the photographer left after the cake cutting and everyone was disappointed when pictures came back because we have no pictures of us all having a good time on the dancefloor... just a suggestion though!
There are photographers that don't got by hour either- I booked Proline for photo and video and the package is just 'full day' so it's until the wedding is over or just before it's over... maybe look into a photographer that doesn't give you a specific time frame?

I think you can tell your venue you want to cut the cake whenever you want. My timeline is the same as yours, ceremony at 7:30 and reception over at 1. I have my photographer for longer (the full day as cets 1290 mentioned), but I'm starting at 1pm for getting ready shots, first look at 3pm, family shots at 5pm, then ceremony/reception, etc.

I have the same issue. Our reception ends at 12:30, so I plan to have the photographer from 12:30-12:30. We're taking pictures in the city beforehand and then heading to the venue.
I agree with having the photographer until the end of the night!

We only have our photographer for 8 hours and our ceremony begins at 7:00pm. I haven't perfected my day-of timeline yet, but was figuring that I'd have him come to my mom's house (or the hotel--if we decide to get ready there) for some daylight shots. I didn't think about what time the cake would be cut. I'll ask if we can cut it right after dinner--that sounds like the best plan. If not, I'll ask what it would cost for the photog to stay an hour or two extra.
