Hi, my name is Kara and my FH and I are wine snobs!
As there will likely be some sort of wine theme at our wedding, I REALLY want to have a selection of hand-chosen wines at our wedding, instead of relying on the house wine. We don't want to go crazy, but we want to make sure what is available is really good. We're not fans of what is usually served - even for the upgrade.
Is it ever possible for a RH to allow the bride and groom to supply their own wine -- or is this a totally crazy idea?
Note, I'm not looking for any sort of discount or anything - and I wouldn't be too upset if there was a corking fee or something.
Anyone try something similar?

Re: ever allowed to supply own wine for RH?
my rh's list of approved caterers don't have liquor licenses... we HAD to supply our own booze.
don't be afraid to ask. even if they say no, you might get away with it, if you say it's part of your 'favor'
eta: since you're a wine 'snob' i'm going to pretend that i didn't serve 'two buck chuck' at my wedding

My hall didn't allow us to 'bring in our own' BUT they said we could request whatever we wanted and they would go buy it and serve it.

I would most definitively ask.
I have that issue with Champagne. I don't like cheap Champagne. So do I look snobby???.... Probably but I don't care. I don't like something ripping my throat apart with bad Champagne.

I agree on the champagne, too!!
I've come to accept our wine snobbery. We're beer snobs, too, but don't drink much beer. It's not like we won't drink the other stuff, we just MUCH prefer the good stuff and keep a really good collection at home.
Other than this, we're pretty down-to-earth!

We want to have some of our favorite international beers as our 'signature drink' and my hall has NO problem with me dropping off a few cases the week before.

Most halls I would think would allow you to bring your own, they don't generally care because they don't have to pay for it then. We asked about the champagne being one we wanted and were told only if you supply it. But it could depend on your hall. Doesn't hurt to just call and find out.
