Ever been to a hall where you loved the room, but you eliminated it as an option because of size?

Like the grand ballroom at Fountainhead where it looks like the site of the Oscars (200+ and up guests) or North Ritz Club, a majestic marble masterpiece (lol) (needed at least 150). Anyone see anywhere that was too small for them but great? I'm at 100 guests.

i love George Washington Manor, but its too small for the # of guests we have. (it might have been $$ too, not sure)

The ballroom at my hall (Bourne Mansion) seats 275 for dinner. I am only planning on having less than 150. I just feel in love with it.

yes - we eliminated carlyle because our guests would have gotten lost in the room (we are shooting to have ~100 people)

A few people have had this same problem. Mr.Hostility & LovelyL had a really hard time with this.
I have under 100, & the carriage house ws perfct for us, but it doesn't sound like the style you are going for.
Places with more than one wedding at a time might work better for you, if you want fancy, but small.

this happened to us off the bat, because we are having 80-100 and most rooms just overwhelmed us .. but there are plenty of nice venues with smaller rooms, it just takes some time to look around. The Watermill was a pick of ours but they were booked on our date ..

Well we loved Westbury Manor. We would have been in the big room. We didn't choose it because they didn't have our date and we wanted to have seating for everyone during the cocktail hour if it was inside and they couldn't accomodate that for our number. That said, I thought the small room (where our cocktail hour would have been) was nice. Think it is for about 100 people.

We fell in love with our ballroom the second we saw it. We negotiated like crazy to get the min lowered ( twice mind you) and we still might not make the min. But we dont care b/c its the room we wanted
