Ever been to Jamaica?

We are thinking of going to Jamaica for our next anniversary. Can you give any feedback on Jamaica...about the island, where you stayed, would you recommend going?

We're going to Couples Swept Away in Negril for the HM. I have heard great things about it, and FH has been to Jamaica and loved it. Link

We went to Jamaica for our HM (sandals Ocho Rios). The resort was beautiful. BUT- the excursions out of the resort left a bad taste in my mouth; they harrass you to buy things, to braid your hair- they basically follow you around if they don't get what they want.

The country is very poor but gorgeous along the coast. I'd say, if you are going to a resort, you will be fine.

How were the beaches? Were there people bothering you to buy things on the resort beaches?

no one bothered us on the beach. it was blocked off from the public, and security guards were around.
someone told me that people come onto the beach and bother you, don't know where but it wasn't at Ocho Rios.

we went to Jamaica 3 years ago... we stayed at the Grand Lido San Souci, Ocho Rios... their beach wasnt that great but I heard that they have improved on it since then (they have two beaches one regular and one nude lol nothing interesting there)... the hotel itself is wonderful, the food delicious and the ground beautiful....
if you are in Jamaica definetly go and see Dunns River Falls and climb it, it is awesome...

same here... we went to ocho rios. the resort was great, but DO NOT go to the craft markets!!!! its horrible. I'm not sure i'd go back.

I have heard the same thing....if you stay within the resort it is wonderful, if not you might be barraged by people who want $$ from you.

I like Negril for their beach!! I have been to Couples Negril (it was great) Swept Away (it is pretty quiet, no TV or radio in your rooms ) I would like to go to Grand Lido Negril, I have sent clients there but have not been there myself. I have also been to Grand Lido Braco in Runaway Bay, it is a nice hotel but I am not crazy about the beach there.

oh and they offer you pot everywhere you go our bus driver was even smoking when we took a rest stop

Haha the new Swept Away suites have TVs! FH made sure to check on that before we booked!
