Ever feel like you’ve been set spinning ‘off’ by something? (work vent)
I’m feeling so ‘off’. I’ve had a VERY busy few weeks (haven’t even been here) and I really shouldn’t be online now. But I’m so ‘off’ now I can’t work.
I enrolled in college cause my office team manager said I really should to grow in the company as well as personally. Besides, the company pays for undergrads. She left three months ago. Last semester I started with one class which was a pre-requisite course and my company doesn’t reimburse, so I didn’t bother.
This semester I enrolled in two courses. I applied for reimbursement and was asked a lot of odd questions. Like “why?” And “Is this something (Company name) does?” Uhm, YES! It’s in our Employee Handbook and on our HR website as incentives.
So two top managers sat to discuss my ‘issue’. I had an issue since I just found out at 4pm that today was deadline to apply to have the advance on my next check. Now I got an answer.
They won’t sign off on my paperwork. Paperwork that says I promise to get a C or better if they advance me the money and I’ll pay it back, directly out of my check if I don’t. Now….. why won’t they sign the check?
Because I have to explain to THEM why going to school is beneficial me personally as was to them as a company?
Wha? THEY told me I needed to go to school to move up, THEY told me I needed to go to school to further my career, THEY told me to take advantage of this, THEY told me in HR this was possible that’s why I even bothered with this company! Now they want me to explain it to THEM?!?!?
Needless to say I missed my deadline. I’m so angry I can’t write this thing up and I can’t think I can’t work.
I know deep inside it’s something that’s I should just do and be ok with, but I feel insulted. My mind is blanked out now and I can’t even remember what my ‘to do’ list is anymore. ARGH

PS: I'm angry enough to leave this company and work for another for $5grand less who would NOT pay for my schooling just because I feel as if I've been lied to!
