everyone has an opinion

everyone has an opinion

I'm just wondering how you feel when someone posts something negative about a vendor you have booked.
My thought on this is that for pretty much every vendor, some people have positive experiences, and some people have negative experiences.
I think that this is really true for dress shops. For every person who has had a great experience somewhere, there is someone else who hated it. But still, I get a little PO'd and worried when I see someone post something that isn't good.

I take it in stride...Everyone has an opinion & may not be happy with the services that they received. If it is something is said that really concerns you, take it up with the vendor. That is the only way to clear your head

I don't sweat it too much. I don't like reading not so great things about any of my vendors but when I do, I just keep in the back of my head so I can take it up with them directly.

When I read the subject, I was thinking of everyone in my family
100% of people can never be happy 100% of the time - don't sweat it.

I think I only get annoyed when someone posts in such a way as 'Oh, I HATE this or that!' or something to that effect. Hello? It's called tact. Just because you HATE something, doesn't mean everyone else does, you can be a little more discreet in expressing your opinions. But that's just me.

In regards to vendors, I freaked a little about my bridal salon being slammed everywhere I looked but so far, they have been nothing but extremely nice and accommodating to me. I try not to worry until I'm given something to worry about, but I know it's hard to do.

This just happened to me on BHB today regarding my photographer. If I am particularly asking about a specific vendor, I appreciate more if they are completely honest. What I do not like are people who give a response that is insensitive. It is one thing to be helpful, but another to be harsh. Does that make sense? Especially if they are sharing an experience that did not happen to them and one that is lacking in important detail.

You hit the nail on the head! If I don't like something, I don't call it cheesy, or garbage, or a waste of money. It's one thing to dislike something, quite another to be tactless about expressing that opinion.

Also not a big fan when someone rips apart another vendor, especially if it's one I'm using. TACT is right. But, I think it also depends on what type of a person you are....what matters to some, may not matter to others....If someone is ranting and raving over something that they consider huge, someone else might think it's no big deal.

I think you have to go with your gut when you make decisions on vendors. JMHO.

I think that it offends me a bit when the poster is really rude or crass about it. I usually try to brush it off though. I think that different people like different things.

For instance, when my BM and I went dress shopping, I really didn't want alot of help from the people working there. If I couldn't find something, it would be nice if they are available, but I really just wanted to feel comfortable and have a laid-back time with my BMs. I've seen alot of brides complain that they got no customer service, but to me it was better than being pounced on! To each her own

I agree with most other posts. I take it with a grain of salt. I have had not so great experiences with some vendors and people have had no so great experiences with mine. I try not to worry too much. having tact is everything when it comes to this. People should remember to phrase things as diplomatically as possible, as another bride may be using that vendor.

I agree -- it's all about how something is said, not the opinion. If people want to help, they can share their experience and offer advice. But everyone on this board should know that no bride wants to read 'I HATE....' about one of their vendors.

I agree with everything that's been said. As far as negative posts about vendors, I don't mind them because in a way, they can be helpful. People have had a lot of issues with Bridal Reflections, where I purchased my dress, so I've fm'd some of the brides asking which seamstress they've used to try to avoid the problem myself. Everyone does have an opinion, there's going to be negative and positive about almost every vendor - I try to take it with a grain of salt and see if there's anything I can take away from another bride's experience to avoid the same problems myself.

I fully agree.

I don't really worry about the random rants about vendors -- everyone has different tastes and different expectations for their weddings.

How do you think I feel? I work in a Salon, and occassionally have to read that we suck! But....I don't sweat it, because you can't truely make 100% of the people 100% happy 100% of the time. And remember many, times there are 2 sides to every story. Not to say mistakes can't be made, but I just try to focus on the experience that I am having, or the job that I am doing for someone else. DO take advice in stride though, and tuck it into the brain bank in case you need ot for the future. Nothing is perfect!

Everyone has different opinions and different tastes. It stinks when its a neg thing and its a vendor you are using, but no one is perfect one bad experience doesnt mean its always a bad experience

Re: everyone has an opinion

I think it's not what you say but how you say it. For instance, I inquired about a particular florist who does not often get glowing reviews here because we booked them and I SWEAR it started a war! The ironic part is that the posters weren’t arguing with me, they were arguing with each other!! It was between those who liked this vendor and those who didn’t. It would seem that some people hold grudges and at every chance they get to bash some vendors they do.

ETA: But to answer your question, it makes me alittle uneasy. So far we've booked vendors that everyone raves about with the exception of our florist and I have to admit that after hearing SO MUCH negative feed back I'm sort of regretting it, but to be honest, I've had no problems with them so far.

Re: everyone has an opinion

I agree with everyone on this perfect example is Bridal reflections some people have ahad bad experiences with them and has put them down. Now I have used them a few times when I was in friends BP and had a great experience with them. I also got my gown from them and they were very nice as well.

I sometimes bounce onto another site but after a recent issue I don't bother anymore I had posted that I booked my photographer and I told them who I booked and I got alot of negative feedback people were putting them down left and right and I know they aren't bad. I know alot of people who have used them and had a great experience wit them and came highly reccomended. It jsut annoyed me the way they were talking to me about the vendor and basically telling me I was nits for booking them and things like that.
