So I just e-mailed my Aunt the reading that we are going to have her do, and she replies like this:
'are you sure about this reading, It says nothing about the love of a man and a women, Have you read Genesis 1: 26-28, 31a or Genesis 2: 18-24. Yes I will read what ever you and FH want. Let me know what your think, See you Sunday at the shower'
I know she is just giving her opion, but these were OBVIOUSLY also choices that we looked at. Yes, they are classic, but we chose our reading to be a little different. Just because it doesn't out right talk about a man and a woman, it still symbolizes God bringing people together.
I didn't just throw a dart at the wall to pick my readings.
Rant over.
ETA: every other one of our readings/hymns have to do with love between a man and a woman

My biggest issue with planning has been everyone's opinions!!! I want to send everyone a memo that says 'This is MY wedding, please save your ideas for your own wedding!

What reading did you ask her to do? I am going through the book now and I am picking ones that apply to us and make sense. I don't want people confused hearing this stuff either.
