EVERYONE READ PLEASE

hey posted this in weddng forums but wanted it here too.............................I just quit my weekend job at the Delphi Diner in West Islip cause the owner is a horrible verbally abusive man so I am just letting you all know that my friends/family are boycotting this place and I hope you will consider other options before going there. You really can't enjoy a nice meal without him yelling at one of the employees!

when i was in HS, one of my classmates' parent's owned that diner. i wonder if it is the same people?????

We were at a diner once in Dix Hills (I think) .. and the manager or owner or whoever in-charge was shouting at one of the waitresses ... it made dining very uncomfortable .. especially since she was our waitress. It was truly a horrible experience .. the food was okay .. but not worth going back .. especially with the arguing that was going on.

This diner is on Jericho Turnpike .. near the intersection of Rt. 231.

FH and I once went to the Merrick Townhouse Diner, and the kitchen got my order wrong twice. I didn't want to make a big deal over it, I just told the waitress the order was wrong and I didn't want it after it was wrong twice. The waitress then begins to tell me that it IS right (which it wasn't), and I said 'Look, I don't want to argue over it, it isn't what I ordered, and I just want it off the bill.' But she wouldn't let it drop, and I heard her and one of the other waitresses talking about it from across the diner!!!! It was at that point I got up, handed them the money for FH's food and a little extra for tax/tip, and started to walk out. Then the waitress got in my FACE and continued to argue with me!!

Believe me, I will NEVER step foot in that diner (MERRICK TOWNHOUSE) again!

Diners aren't the same as they were when I was a kid, I dunno.

yea and then Diner owners want to know why they have no business anymore. All of our experiencees are the reasons why..........plenty of people have walked right out after hearing him yell and carry on at the poor wait staff, buss boys, and everyone else he wanted to yell at! I hope he retires soon.

I'm not sure, one of the owners passed away and his wife is still there. One of them retired after a stroke and his son is still there. And then there is THIS HORRIBLE man who yells all the time, his wife also passed, and she used to work there as well.

we went to the diner a couple of weeks ago for breakfast and a couple is ahead of us. then the host comes and seats us, but as we are walking, the man of the couple goes to the maitre d', guy (the owner?) and complains that it is too hot where he sat, so while this is happening, the host seats us, but the owner guy comes over and kicks us out and seats us where the couple was, which was right by the kitchen, so we felt sooo in the way of everyone and then the owner starts taking chairs from our table mid meal without acknowledging us there. rude!!!

thanks for your show of support girls, and I would love to see the look on his face if you kept returning your meal but I warn you he isn't pleasant at all I am so nervous to go ghere and get my check today :(

I was at the Delphi Diner once with my DH and I ordered breakfast and didn't finish it and our waitress yelled at me for not finishing it and I shouldn't have ordered a full stack of pancakes if I wasn't going to eat them. Dh was laughing for an hour. I was humiliated though.

I know what you are talking about with the owner yelling. I used to eat there all the time when I was living at home.

Good for you...you shouldn't have to deal with a hostile workplace.

I am glad to hear that others agree b/c I didn't want to seem like a crazy person who was just mad b/c I quit my job!!! I am sorry you all had bad experiences there as well, but at least I feel a little justified in my complaining, lol!!!! I got my check and the wait staff all congradulated me on walking out b/c nobody ever stands up to that mean old grumpy man.
