Example of how non-RSVPers have no excuses!

We invited my FH's best man's parents to the wedding.

The best man's mom has been in the hospital with a fairly serious condition.....and his parents STILL were able to send in the rsvp card (regretting that they won't make the wedding) a WEEK BEFORE the due date!

If they can remember to mail it and get the card back to us EARLY, then everyone else has no excuse! (unless, of course, something worse happened G-d forbid........but we know that this usually is not the case!)

I had a close relative (3 people scheduled to attend together) that were NO SHOWS to my shower. They did not RSVP for the shower and another relative had to call them. They said yes and then didn't show up AND didn't even call anyone to say they would not be there the morning of. We were at the shower wondering if they were lost or something. WHen asked, the response was that they did not feel well in the AM and 'what were you going to do, pick me up,' about 2-3 days later I received a call to apologize but I do not think they really understood that it was rude not to make a phone call when you are expected to be somewhere. Anyway, I was told 'what's the difference if you get a gift and someone eats the meal and if you get a gift and someone doesn't eat the meal, either way you're getting a gift..' Also, they said, 'well, I wasn't a key player in the planning so it really doesn't matter that I wasn't there.' Again, this is a person that clearly doesn't get it.

So help the person that is a NO SHOW to the wedding. I better have an email, a phone call or something.

no way, you're not mean!

Your story is exactly why I don't want to accept a verbal 'yes' to my wedding.

If I have to call people after the rsvp date, I'm going to tell them that they still need to send the card back.

Otherwise, how can I be sure they're not just embarrassed to say no to me over the phone? And if they can't manage to drop a self-addressed stamped envelope in a mailbox, how can they remember to get themselves to the wedding??

if anyone were to no-show, they're going to have to answer to me about it!! I don't play the game of ignoring stuff like that!! (we need a knuckles icon!!!)

i think that's awesome that those relatives had enough class to rsvp when they had so much else going on.
god help anyone who no-shows to my wedding without a phone call and valid excuse as well.

Ugh, my RSVP date is 6 days away and we still haven't heard from 100 people!!!100 people!!!

i think that's awesome that those relatives had enough class to rsvp when they had so much else going on.
god help anyone who no-shows to my wedding without a phone call and valid excuse as well.

yeah, and in their case, I totally would've understood if they told their son to just tell us they can't make it. But they went above and beyond that and actually sent the reply card.

I was joking around with the banquet manager that I'm going to make a 'do-not-admit' list in case anyone just shows up at the wedding if they haven't sent their rsvp card back. I'm really kidding, of course but it cracks me up to think about it.

oh, and we haven't gotten the rsvps from the best man or the MOH yet!!
