Excellence in Mexico

we might be going here on our honeymoon, but I keep reading on trip advisor that the beach isn't good, but in these peoples pictures it looks beautiful! Anyone know anything about the beach here? I will be spending 90% of my honeymoon laying on the beach so I wanted to know how bad/good it is. And if it is bad, reasons why it is bad. No one on tripadvisor gave reasons.

we went to secrets of excellence in riviera maya in aug. EVerything was beautiful but the beach stunk. we walked on it once and the water was dirty looking not like the water by cancun which is on the other side. we were at the pool the entire vacation. if you plan on laying on the beach you will be dissappointed because the water isnt what your expecting.
