Excellence Playa Mujeres Review!

We flew out on JetBlue (WONDERFUL!) - we checked in late, because we had a flight delay because of all of the rain we had on Monday morning. We had taken a cab with American Express to get there, and with all of the publicity about how bad mexico is we were both pretty nervous with booking but we went with it. It took almost 45 minutes to get to the resort with lots of 'back roads' - it was 3 gates with guards to get to the resort - the ride was semi-frightening, only since no one had told us what to expect, but knowing there were 3 gated guard booths anyone had to go through to get to the resort, that made us feel much safer! Once we were at EPM, we were greeted with Champagne and cool towels since it was so hot!

We were swept away to our room (we booked a roof top terrace) - now the one thing we didn't know when we booked the roof top terrace is that most of the rooms you go up stairs to go to the roof for your pool - we didn't have that with our roof top terrace. We had a sliding door that led out to a huge deck that had our pool, we were in room 3401. Since we were the END CAP - we had our pool right outside of a sliding door, no climbing up and down the stairs for stuff out of the mini fridge or for room service, I know 3401, 3402 are both those types of rooms, there are a few others just like that. I would definitely look into that

For dinner, they don't let you wear tank tops or shorts, so it was much dressier at night (we didn't know it when we booked this place) but we went shopping and I picked up a few things. It was the best resort we have stayed at!

The face drinks are made at the Sol-Bar (one closest to the beach) daily at 12noon only - Just to let you know

WOW!!! Looks amazing! Im booked at Excellence Punta Cana! I hope its as nice as this one! Thanks for the info about dinner. Was wondering if they were strict about the dress code at dinner or not.

Thanks for all the info!!!!! I'm going to call the travel agent and see if she can tell us what room we have. I'm even more excited now after seeing your pictures! They look just like the pics on the website. Congratulations and welcome home!!!!

Looks AMAZING!!!! I'm so glad you had a great time!!! Just a question about the dress code, since we're going in June. What exactly do you have to wear for dinner? Just dresses? Can you wear a nice top and jeans, or leggings? What about men? Shirt and pants, or do they need a jacket? No jeans for men at dinner, I assume? TIA!

tank tops for women, implying like 'beater' types are not okay, but a dressy 'tank' top/sleeveless is alright??

Thanks for filling us in on the rooftop rooms without stairs... I sure would like that. I fall a lot and I could only imagine running down the stairs to get a drink and slipping!

this is what it says (i took it because they leave these little 'excellence newsletters' under your door every night to tell you what restaurants are closed and the daily activities) -

One set of restaurants requires
Gentlemen: Long pants, dress shirt, casual shoes or elegant sandals must be worn.
Ladies: Long pants, capri pants, skirt, blouse, casual shoes and elegant sandals must be worn.

the more casual restaurant allows short pants/capris for men for dinner

they say 'please do not come in t-shirts, tank tops, and/or beach sandals' - which apparently me not knowing, all I packed were tanks, shorts, and flip flops, we went shopping
