Excellence Resort vs. Sandals Resort

I was at Excellence in DR when it was part of Secrets too. I was there last october. DH and I LOVED it!!!! We honeymooned at Sandals St. Lucia Regency and loved it too. BUT, we both agreed that we liked excellence better. The service and the atmosphere was a little better. We booked pretty much the basic rooms at both places and at DR they each have a hot tub and bar in the room (sandals didn't unless you upgrade). I also felt like a lot of the thing we got at Secrets were extras at Sandals.

BUt Sandals (at least st. lucia) had a better beach. The waves at Secrets are rougher compared to other places in the Carribean. The waves are still less than those at Jones Beach, but I know a lot of people expect pool like water in the DR. There are other things that were better too, but I don't know if those apply to Antigua.

If you haven't already check up TripAdvisor. Just be careful to take everyone's opinion with a grain of salt.

I've been to Excellence when it was Secrets Excellence - LOVED IT !
We booked Sandals Antigua for our HM, leaving in 10 days for that.
