Excellence Riveria (Secrets)

I've done plenty of research on this hotel before we booked, but now I just happened to check out Trip Advisor and the reviews are beginning to scare me. I read two reviews about bed bugs and a musty smell. I noticed that both rooms are a swim out room, which we do not have but i'm still nervous.

I read wonderful things in the past on Trip Advisor about this hotel, heard great things from friends who went and also from a few travel agents. I'm just getting a little nervous since we are going next month. Has anyone been recently and run into any problems?

We are booked for Excellence in april and I have been tracking tripadvisor since last april and there are very few bad reviews. Yes, there is a musty smell, but you are in Mexico and it's very humid. The hotel supplies incense or someone suggested to bring your own candle. As for the bed bugs, I would check the bed thoroughly, but one post on their forum mentioned how if you are outside or by the beach before you go to bed, the bugs come in with you and suggested you take a shower or rinse off before getting into bed. Another suggestion, is to not keep food out in the room and to use the box in the room when you are finished. I wouldn't worry b/c no where you vacation is perfect and like they say on the forum (which you should check out) certain people will find something to complain about anywhere they go. I would bring bug spray regardless b/c I know anytime I go away I get eaten alive, but that's just me. Don't worry, you will have an awesome time!! Just go there with the expectation that your honeymoon is going to be fabulous and you will not be disappointed and remember not to sweat the small stuff!

trip advisor is a great souce but its not the be all end all. Remember more people will write a bad reveiw then a good one.
The hotel is a great hotel, wonderful reputation, don't change your mind based off a a couple of bad reviews from Trip advisor.
