We are thinking of the same resort but havent decided yet. Im not sure, what do they say is a swim up?

I'm actually thinking of this resort too. It's very similar to the El Dorado Royale, but the beach is supposed to be nicer and you don't need reservations for dinner. I haven't really thought about room category, but I definitely want oceanfront. Swim-up is also a possibility, but what is the price difference? Check out tripadvisor.com I'm addicted!!

Woohooo! We booked the pool/spa view. Wanted to keep it on the lower end ($$ wise). We would rather spend the money on excursions.
I heard the swim ups are nice but not as private as some would like.
I got a good deal FM if you want more info!

I went on my HM there last May and a lot of the swim-up rooms only got sun in the morning after that they were very shady, and most of the people came over to the other side of the pool to lounge and swim!

I went on the Secrets website and only saw the Capri riviera Cancun. I don't see the Excellence one anymore and the excellence is where I wanted to go. Is it a different website?

Yes, they are not affiliated with Secrets as of the New Year. Do a search on trip advisor or google Excellence Riviera Maya.

I think I did a mini-review on it on this board over the summer time.
I was expecting a lot worse from the beach than it actually was, based on the reviews i saw on tripadvisor. However the beach was fine (nothing amazing, but nothing horrible). The water is blue, but not crystal clear blue, and I think it was slightly rough at times (not may people swam in the beach while we were there), and the sand is beautiful very clean and powder like! We mostly stayed by the pool because it was soooo hot down by the beach!
