Excuse Me???????? Where Is My Invitation?????

I'm interested in how you would answer that question.

The news of Eugene & I getting married has spread like wildfire and we are being bombarded with strange e-mails and such from people who we haven't seen in a long time all wanting to come to the wedding.

I don't wanna be rude! (although I'm tempted!)

Something a little more personal might be nice, even if you've never meet them! Maybe, 'We're very sorry that due to our financial and space limitations, we have to omit some people that we would otherwise love to invite. We hope that you understand and each of you will be in our thoughts on that day.'

were you listening in on the my phone call from FMIL this morning and my mom just now.

Their is this woman Anne Marie who asked FI's aunt where her invitation was to our e-party. His aunt said they have a lot of people coming, I dont know.

Then his aunt called his mother to ask if we invited Ann Marie and his mom told the aunt No they didnt. I told them they did not have to invite her and they didnt. They have a lot of people coming and at this time their really just isnt room for her. She is not family.

His aunt was hurt that we didnt invite Ann Marie, but come on its our wedding not his aunts.

Why do people expect to get invited to things???

I dunno, we are going to sit down & do the e-party stuff this Sunday. I am POSITIVE that I will have alot to post on Monday

I love how people think it is their opportunity to get a free family/neigborhood reunion!

I would just be nice and say were having a small wedding of the people who are most in our lives...

i wonder what starts going through mothers heads that they think its their wedding..hopefully we all remember those times when our kids are grown up and getting married...

the nerve of some people!!!!! i would definitely give them the old 'due to space and financials constraints blah, blah, blah! i don't have the guts to do anything else

some people just think its their wedding or want to do things they couldnt do at their wedding and using your own as their way of doing it.

If I get one more call asking about kids I am going to scream

chippa... i start to wonder why people even want to bring there kids.. wouldnt anyone want a night away from their kids??? whos kids are perfect angels...... its a good reason to get a babysitter

What I did was to send a collective email to all the people we knew we could not invite, either because they are not close to us anymore, or because we knew they were too far away, etc ... and we included a person I know that since she knew that I was getting married, was annoyingly asking me when and where was going to be the wedding party!!!

The funny part is that after many people that really care about us, and we couldn't invite, send us nice emails wishing us the best. But this annoying person did not even say 'hi'. About 2 months before the wedding, she had the nerve to call to my appartment, and kind of talk to my now DH ... he was so angry that cut her off by being distant and monosyllabic, he, he! Well, later I sent her an email talking about my planning, and about that we were having a small party, and that seems to have gone through her thick and selfish head.

Just try to be polite and say 'listen we can accomodate everybody', sooner or later they have to get it!

Tell me about it. You have no idea what I have been dealing with. Even before the ring I said 'In no way shape or form do I want children. No little ones whatsoever'

Then my dad threw a fit because his only sibling has a son who will be 14 at the time of the wedding has to be invited otherwise it will cause a HUGE family war. FINE! I compromised. No one under 14. Well that started a family war on his side, his aunt with 5 kids said well if all my kids cant be there then dont count on us to be there. That started a whole war because his mom got mad that her sister wouldnt be there and that is just not right. UH!! FINE annoying aunt with 5 kids bring all your little demons. She has 5 kids, 2 are little (4,5)

Now that his aunts 5 runts are coming someone else is throwing a fit because she has a daughter who is 4 which is the same age as his aunts son and wants to know why its ok for his aunts 5 kids to be in attendance and her daughter is not invited.

I am throwing a HUGE fit and inches away from telling everyone if you are not of legal age to drink you are not invited.

My favorite is I had family members ask me if I can change my wedding to the following week because its a holiday that my wedding is on and they cant make it on the 18th.

what are people thinking
