I LOVE going to the gym. I have heard that some doctors tell them NOT to do too much exercising. Anyone's tell that to you??
I LOVE running and lifting weights, but hubby told me to cool it with the weights. He thinks that could be the reason why my progesterone levels are low??

Re: Exercising????
I went to the gym and lifted weights from before i got PG until i was 5 months PG. I have complications so that is the only reason i had to stop. The doctor said it is healthy for the baby and for you as well.

Re: Exercising????
I don't think weight lifting is harmful...actually, I've read it's really good for you...as long as you don't overdo it.

Re: Exercising????
I know a few weeks ago there was a girl in my class at the gym who had to be at least 7 months pregnant, and it was a very very hard kickboxing hour long class...she did better then I did..lol...but she was still excersising. They say to be careful only if you run into complications and to LOWER your weight amounts, too much pulling can create a placenta tear on the Uterus wall but its not common and its more often with heavy weight lifters.

Re: Exercising????
You mean exercising before getting pregnant, or during pregnancy?
I don't see why exercise would be anything but good while you're TTC. And during pregnancy - I've done a LOT of research on this since I plan to continue to exercise once I get PG. As long as you can do the 'talk test', or get out a few words at a time while your heart rate is elevated, then you're fine. For weights, the further along you get, the lighter you should go. The hormones that are released while you're PG loosen ligaments, so you could risk injury if you lift too heavy. And of course you're not supposed to lie on your back at all after a certain period.
Basically, you can work out like you're working out now, just at a lower intensity.

Re: Exercising????
If your body is used to exercising prior to pregnancy, you can keep excercising throughout, so long as you don't overdo it. Just stick with what your body is used to.

Re: Exercising????
I worked out like a freak before I was pregnant. Heavy weights and cardio. Unfortunately I didn't continue to go to the gym during my pregnancy. I don't think you'll have a problem with TTC and working out.

Re: Exercising????
My cardio kick instructor taught an hour long class up until a week before her due date!
