Existentialism on prom night!

Existentialism on prom night!

For an early Valentine's gift, Mr Boots surprised me with the Straylight Run CD, because enjoying EMO is my shameful secret.
The track 'Existentialism on Prom Night' has become my mental-patient-song (you all have them, don't lie) and I have it on repeat in my car.
Sadly, the sweetness of this song will be tainted forever because scads of high schools will use it as their prom song this year. It will become the couples-only dance, the coda of every summer party, the background track of every group of friends hanging out one last time before summer ends and college begins.

But now, I'm really nostalgic for my prom and my senior year in high school when everything seemed like the end of the world. Good Lord, we were so earnest!! I can remember the entire soundtrack of my senior year! And the boy, I liked, and how we met, and graduation, that last summer before college...

Does anyone else get pangs of nostalgia for high school? Who wants to wallow in memories with me?

High school, no. Hated it. I have recently been getting pangs of nostalgia for college--so much so that I considered quitting my job and pursuing another graduate degree at the school just to frequent the same bars...And I have been looking at thefacebook.com, and it appears that every undergrad. at my alma mater is smoking hot...Gorgeous men, beautiful women...How HOW did I not know how good I had it...And why WHY did I spend any wasted time STUDYING...This is my favorite hot guy that I would be all over if I was still an undergrad...

I got nostalgic the other night. I had an event at the huntington twonhouse the other night and as I was walking up the stairs I got reminscent. Everything was still the same and I can still remember where the table was where we had to check in before going into prom. The place where we took our phot. Even the cool bathroom!

*sigh* I still have my dress too!

I loved high school - i do miss it sometimes. I made some of my best friends there. But goodness how much has changed since then!

I miss high school sometimes...
and then i remember the boy who told me i looked like a 'little boy'
and the guy i was 'dating' who wouldn't talk about the fact that we were dating,
and how uncomfortable I felt,
how fat I thought I was,
how huge my eyebrows were before i met a tweezer......
and then I don't miss it so much anymore.....

I wouldn't go back to high school if they paid me, but, every once in a while...

I remembet the last day of class senior year. It was one of those perfect June days, bright and blue and endless. I was sitting on a bench in the parking lot, my BF at the time was resting his head on my lap. It was right after school and we were waiting for our friends. They pulled around the parking lot in their blue Grand Am and tan convertible LeBaron! I remember watching them pull up to us, with the top down on the LeBaron and the sun beating down, and everyone calling for us to come to the beach. I remember thinking that I wanted that moment to last forever!

It's moments like that that really get me!

ETA: I even remember exacty what I was wearing! I am so lame!

I didn't go to my prom. My friends and I made fun of the people who did. That's how cool we were.

I am mega-nostalgic this week with the 90s music on krock....makes me miss college so bad........ I literally get anxiety - it stinks!

Couldnt pay me enough to go to back to hs though!

Oh and I wanted to mention that I enjoy EMO - no shame here!

I can remember warm spring days hanging out on the senior lawn thinking we were beyond cool.

Weekends hanging out at 'the park' drinking wine coolers & beer, radios blasting

I remember wearing my bf's ugly bright green & yellow swimming jacket (Holy Cross) so proud

My prom was at the Swan Club & we hit Rockaway Beach after and NYC (Dangerfields) & then headed to Great Adventure the next day.

Why is it we can remember the littlest details: things we wore, songs on the radio, exact dates, and so much more?

dumb question--What's EMO?

I find the older I get, the more my nostaligai moves on. I was stuck on college nostalgia for a while, but now the era I miss the most , was my post college ling in Astoria with a roomate in an apt I could barely afford, 7 blocks away from my new boyfriend & his roomat in their tiny closetless box.

I have no clue what EMO is either!!!!!! Do tell Liz!!!

I spent the day yesterday with one of my best friends from HS and it's always a blast bringing up old stuff!! She hooked up with her husband at our ten year reunion which she planned (the reunion, not hooking up) ... the 20 is next year!!

Re: Existentialism on prom night!

A friend and I were just talking about much our senior prom sucked, but I had a BLAST at the junor prom, it was one of my first 'dates' with FH, and I remember slow dancing and how he'd whisper to me and sing to me on the dance floor and kiss my neck, and how he kept trying to drag me into remote corners of the hotel to make out..LOL

Yesterday we had such a beautiful day, in the morning it was so sunny and bright and all i could think about was how in HS on a day like that we would all go to the park after school (our HS was surrounded on 2 sides by a park, if you walked out the back door -which you couldn't- you were in the park..it was SO beautiful...right on the water)... I remembered all of the fun amazing times we had in the park, picnics, being harassed by kkite flying guy, rollerblading, shooting pool, watching the sun set. I had my first french kiss in that park

OOH Now I want to go hang out at the park
