Extening your wedding time

Extening your wedding time

Anyone out there already married that could recommend if it's sensible to extend your wedding time from the traditional 5 hours to 5 and a half or six hours? And if so, would you recommend adding a half hour to the coctail hour or just adding it to the end of the party?

I was quoted $350 for an additional half hour and an additional $750 for an hour.

What does everyone think?

That's not bad! I'm in this same predicament.

I want an hour and a half CH but my hall takes it off the reception time. I want a full 4 hour reception.

We are extending the CH 1/2 hour and the reception 1/2 hour. I think it's so worth it bc the day goes so quickly! We wanted to do it this way bc it also allows guests a little extra time to get there (we are getting married on a Friday).

Definately worth it, just take into account that you will need to extend your band or DJ too. We did this and the band wanted a fortune for the extra hour!!!

I wanted to do it but for me it wasn't worth it money wise. I would say if you are going to do it, add the time onto the cocktail hour (depending on how much your families like to party) because typically by the end of the night, everyone is soooo tired they don't want another hour or even another half hour. This way, you get the extra time earlier in the day. It also depends on what time your reception ends and what day of the week it is on. If your wedding is on a sunday, for example, I wouldn't extend it at all at the end.

We're doing the same as J&S (another lessing bride). Our CH goes from 6 - 7:30 and the reception from 7:30 to 12 on a Friday. It's $5 per person extra and our band gave us a good deal for a musician at the CH and playing for the full reception. It was one of my 'must-haves'

Thanks so much for the feedback. I still haven't handed in my wedding contract yet, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Plus with our wedding being over 2 years away, we don't have anything else booked. So I guess I'll see what kind of offers I get from the other vendors.

Thanks again!!

I added an additional hour onto my reception. I think if I could do it again, I would have added a half hour to my cocktail and a half hour to my recption. The cocktail hour was so amazing and I didn't make it to most of it.
