My friend is getting married on 10/12...she is a bridesmaid in my wedding and i am a bridesmaid in hers. She ordered her dresses from bridal suite in centereach and i am a little concerned. The woman asked me how high the shoes are that i plan on wearing so i said probably an inch and a half. I have never heard this for my height before (5'7') but she insisted that i needed extra length on the dress. Now my friend who is 5'6 and a half didnt need extra length. Has anyone heard of extra length for someone who is 5'7'? I asked the girl if material will be cut off the bottom during alterations and her reply, 'probably...everyone needs their dresses hemed.' Anyone??

Re: extra height????
I'm 5'7 also and I had shoes with about a 2 inch heel and I didn't need the extra length on my dress. Did you try on the dress in the regular length? Even if they don't have the exact dress in your size to try on, maybe there are other dresses by the same designer you could try on just to see how they cut the lengths of their dresses. It sounds to me like they want you to pay extra for the extra length and then pay to have it hemmed.

Re: extra height????
Thats what it sounds like to me too. One of the other bms is 5'6 and wearing 3' heels so she would be taller than me and they said she didnt need extra length. I'm annoyed

I am 5'10' (with 2 inch heels) and didnt need to add extra length to my dress... I guess it depends on the dress

Re: extra height????
I'm 5'10' in bare feet, so I usually get stuck with extra length.
I got wise though, and started asking what the length of the dress was in my particular size. The size charts have ALL the measurements. Most of the time the length was sufficient that I did not have to order extra, and no hemming was needed. If there is doubt, then it would be better to order the extra length.
Again, it all depends upon the dress style and the manufacturer.
