Extra length at 5'7'?

My friend is getting married on 10/12...she is a bridesmaid in my wedding and i am a bridesmaid in hers. She ordered her dresses from bridal suite in centereach and i am a little concerned. The woman asked me how high the shoes are that i plan on wearing so i said probably an inch and a half. I have never heard this for my height before (5'7') but she insisted that i needed extra length on the dress. Now my friend who is 5'6 and a half didnt need extra length. Has anyone heard of extra length for someone who is 5'7'? I asked the girl if material will be cut off the bottom during alterations and her reply, 'probably...everyone needs their dresses hemed.' Anyone??

DId you already order? When I was a bridesmaid they asked what shoes I was weraring and I told them FLATS........I'm 5'11' so I figured I might have to order extra lenght......well they made me order extra length. When I tried the dress on after ordering.....it was like I had a train. WAY TOO LONG. They seriously took 4 inches off the dress. After the fact we realized they did it for all the girls over 5'6' which were 3 out of 4. It was just to get the extra $40 per bridesmaid. I should have known we were getting scamed after I tried on the sample but they said that because the sample was 2 sizes too small they couldn't be quite sure on the lenght. If you feel you don't need extra lenght after trying on the sample...don't let them talk you into ordering it. JMHO!

Thanks! I know i'm not going crazy. I even called the lady who i ordered my dresses from for my wedding and she was like 'i cannot think of one manufacturer that you would need extra length for.' My confusion is that my friend who's also in the wedding is 5'6' and wearing 3' heels. She would need extra height more than me so i would think. Now im annoyed. $40 for something i didnt need...grrrrrrrrr

I am 5'7' and have been in 2 weddings- one in 2004 and one 2005 and did not have to have the dressed hemed. The length was perfect. When I had the dressed altered I wore the shoes I was wearing for the wedding. When I was measured it was always flatfoot.

My 5'11' MOH is wearing flats and trying on the dresses one thing she was looking for was a dress that she wouldn't need extra length with---and the one she picked is perfect for her. FSIL is a BM and she didn't order extra length either--she's 5'8'....I don't think you need it. Did you try on the sample of the dress? See how long it is and decide after that...

I know when my girls ordered from Macys they said anyone over 5'8 has to order the extra length. Thats without shoes on. So I Think it is normal. cause that wasn't the first store i herd about it in.
