so FH and I were talking last night about making our wedding reception unique and different and fun but we have no idea how to do this.
I think a photobooth would be an awesome idea, but FH didn't love it.
we're not into getting cigar rollers, either.
what else is there for us to rent that would be fun and/or entertaining for people?

Does it have to be something you rent? We had slipper and pashmina baskets and the guests went nuts for it! One of the staff members at the RH said that when people saw the baskets, it was like sale day at Loehmann's!
Does your RH include international coffees and cordials? That's something else that people might enjoy.
Another idea could be to have a caricature artist to do sketches of the guests during the CH.

We're not sure we want it to be food-related since we already have TONS of food and it's an afternoon wedding lol ...
also similar thoughts when it comes to slipper baskets or whatnot ... we prefer it to be something to do or see, rather than to take.
can you tell me more about the caricature artist? don't they take a long time to draw people (like 15 mins per person)...?

I'm not sure how long it takes per person. I purchased a caricature of DH and me from Marty Macaluso as a gift a few years ago. I know that he also does caricatures at parties and weddings. I think to save time, you can choose pre-drawn (if that's a word!) backgrounds and then he draws the people in at the wedding.
I think his website was something along the lines of quicksketch.com, but if you google his name, you should be able to find it.

We went to a wedding a few years ago that had a station set up where you could get pillows airbrushed with your name. I have a little bolster pillow with my name that I love from that wedding!
I think they also had choices of frames or tshirts you could get airbrushed, but the little pillow was so cute and unique!
There are tons of places that do this sort of thing, I think -- I'd just never seen it at a wedding before. It was a ton of fun!

I know you said you didn't want it to be something you gave out, but we did a slipper basket for the woman and it was a HUGE hit! People were coming up to me saying it was the best thing ever!

the caricature idea is sooo awesome! there are soo many artists around that could do something like that for you! everyone loves that kind of thing

we had a ice cream sundae bar,a candy buffet at the reception and a chuck wagon and a mashed potato bar at ch
but our 2 biggest hits were the lipper basket
people thanked us all night an someones shoe boke so she was really thankful
but the biggest hit and the best money we spent was the photobooth
everyone loved it!!!!!!

I went to a wedding that had the photbooth and it was a big hit.. me n my fh LOVED the pics..
I think you should have something that is about you and FH whether it has to do with cultural backgrounds... like steel drums and find out whats the tradition in ur country or his country.. sometimes we forget about tradition and some ppl appreciate things like that

LOL that's awesome ... i don't think it's very wedding-esque though so i kinda doubt i'll do it ... but i still think it's great
