I didn't realize that it started an hour earlier so I didn't get to see the first half.

Wait until you see the second hour. After getting up about three times to go to the bathroom to get tissues I finally grabbed the box!!

Oh and it's so nice to know I'm not the only one!!!

We didn't watch it last night, sometimes I just don't want to do that to myself on a Sunday night.

I'm curious now tho, what made Anthony upset?

the one that is on now is so sad, my sister is a great mother to one child with autism and one child with asperger's syndrome - i could not imagine 5 children with autism, these parents are just amazing!

btw - still wondering what the letter to ABC was about?

Re: Extreme Home Makeover

Forgot all about this post. Anthony was down there for 6 months straight. He was there right after the second tower, during building 7 and during the rescue they talked about. He doesnt really talk about 9-11 to others, he doesnt even think hes a hero..

He worked with one firefighter who had lost his only (firefighter) son and looked for him for months and never asked for anything. He has many friends who have trade center cough, cancer (they believe from working down there so long) etc. Some dont ask for help, some wont accept it and some cant get it.

He didnt feel the man didnt deserve praise for what he did. He helped for 2 weeks and was able to rescue people, living people, but did he need a house? After the one they had was fine? There are people who are more needy. He actually normally likes the show and is amazed at what they do for people.. but when they dont NEED it?

Im just saying what he thought.. I kind of see what hes saying..

I hope I dont get many negative replies for this. My husband has had an EXTREMELY hard time since 9-11. He and others saw and found things noone should ever see. Things I could not even imagine until he told me.

I'm so sorry that your husband feels that way. I can totally understand his point of view. He is a hero and it's a shame he can't see it that way.

We all need things. It's all relative to our own lives and our own situations. Even with tonights episode I got upset. Ok so you have 6 kids, 5 with autism. so the first kid that had the disease you thought was a fluke and then the second and then the third.... UM HELLO???? I understand that they wanted a big family and that is great, good for them but people will ask WHY when after the 3rd kid and ALL OF THEM have a form of autism and you continue to pop them out!?!?!

I am sorry that so many of their children have such a terrible disorder, I get it but please, after 3 children WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?????

You may now proceed with beating me!

How soon can they diagnose autism?

How soon can they diagnose autism?

my nephew was not diagnosed with autism until he was 3 and my niece was not diagnosed with asperger's syndrome until she was 5 (they are two years apart so they were actually diagnosed in the same year) - that being said, i dont think that my sister would have chosen to NOT have either one of them - those kids are in school, and intelligent - they just have a social and language disorder which i dont think means that they should never have been born. EVeryone is entitled to their own opinion and obviously that family put themselves on TV so i guess everyone can say what they want. But i think that is a harsh way to think about it.

as for the 9/11 episode, I understand where he is coming from. I am NOT saying that that family DIDN'T deserve a house - but there may have been more people that were deserving, but then again it is a TV show and they went for the WOW factor of a man finding hte last two survivors. . . I understand though bc my FFIL is now sick bc he worked with the dept of sanitation for MONTHS AND MONTHS after 9/11 and he will not get any help. Of course, they are not destitute and they arent expecting charity BUT he did get sick during his service to NY so I think it is so sad htat he is now on his own!

Thats what I thought. I work with many autistic children at school and I know some of them are not diagnosed until they are well into elementary school. I was wondering how early they could diagnose autism.
