Eye Exam

Does anyone know where I can take a 12 year old for an eye exam (not to expensive).

My eye doctor is great, and with Stony Brook hospital. Do you have insurance? Mine is always just the price of copay, and my glasses are covered every 2 years (or contacts).

I'm in Queens, but I am willng to go into Nassau.

I do have insurance, but this child is not my own. The parents can't afford it and she needs glasses. So my DH and I are trying to take care of that.

there is an optomology place on Union tpke. They just do exams there it is between Francis Lewis Blvd. and 188th. I think it is called pediatric optomatry (sp) Very nice and child friendly and they only do children

Ohhh that's really nice of you. I am not sure what the cost would be for a check up and glasses without insurance. Do any colleges near you have optometry programs? Some of the programs do free work for low income families.

also, lenscrafters do exams but I think you need parents approval at most places. I think not sure.
but I highly recommend the place I mentioned befoere. I do know how much but they are, but they are perfect for children.

The child doesn't qualify for Medicaid? Perhaps you can mention the situation and maybe they will work with you. An eye exam is usually $60 or so.

My sister is an optometrist for Pearle Vision. I am not sure of the price they charge and I wish I could get u a discount. I can't., sorry, They are in the process of being bought over by another compnay, but keeping there name Pearle Vision. I would go to SUNY optometry in NYC for a low cost exam, it is the NY state optometry school. If you cannot get there call them and ask them where you can go for an exam for her.
