eye makeup

I saw a picture in a bridal magazine of a model with something similar to the cat-eyes style. It wasn't as drastic or dark- I really liked it. I was thinking about doing something similar to that for my eng party. What do you think? Will it look outdated?

My mom thinks it may look odd. I'm not very good with the whole makeup thing so I'm not sure.
