Has anyone tried this? I'm really interested but it seems dangerous? Is it expensive and how long does it last?

Never even heard of it but it sounds painful! Isn't an eyelash curler enough? Or you can use fake eyelashes...

Re: Eyelash Perming
I've had it done once but I have friends who do this every 3 months. Usually by the 3rd month it needs to be redone. Its actually not expensive at all $15 - $25 each time, and its not painful at all, unless you get someone who isn't that careful and they get some of the stuff in your eyes, but you basically lie there for 20 min with cotton on your eyes and you have curled eyelashes for 3 months.

Re: Eyelash Perming
Where do you get it done? Do they use similar chemicals to hair perm solution?
Ooooh, I'm so excited someone has done this!

Re: Eyelash Perming
I personally wouldn't do it b/c I don't want chemicals anywhere near my eyes. But here's some info for the curious.
Perming eyelashes originated in Korea a decade ago, but it never reached the level of popularity there that it has in Taiwan. It is also a relatively new phenomenon in Japan, according to Makae, who added that her friends have it done whenever they come from Japan to visit.
The process takes 45 minutes to one hour and lasts six to eight weeks. Depending on the salon, it costs between NT$400 and NT$800. A small, white tube is fitted around the upper and bottom eyelashes and a diluted perm solution is applied to the tips.
According to Lee, perming does not make the lashes weaker and it is safer than using a metal eyelash curler, which pulls the lashes at the roots and can cause them to break or fall out.
The downside to perming eyelashes, however, is that it makes them appear shorter than before. To get longer, curlier and fuller lashes, they need to be fake, said Lee, who added that more women are opting for fake eyelashes instead of perming.
ETA: article from Taiwanese website...so $ amount is not accurate.

Re: Eyelash Perming
I'm assuming its the same stuff as hair perming cause it smells pretty much the same, they also advise you not to wash your eyes with soap for a day so it won't straighten on you. I've done it asain beauty salons, its actually really popular to do this in the asian community along with adding extentions to your existing eyelashes. But you can do it in Flushing at Sa Sa Beauty, there are plenty of places on 32nd Street in Koran TOwn that does it also, can't remember the names and chinatown is also another option. I've done it Sa Sa in flushing, they are located on roosevelt ave between main st. and prince st.

Re: Eyelash Perming
If you are going to try it, I suggest doing it FAAAAAR in advance so that if anything does happen, they can repair before the wedding.
Do you happen to know any guinea pigs that will try it first??

Where do you get a henna? Does that mean you never have to put mascara on? I would do that in a second!

Thats exactly it-you dont need to apply mascara (she also dyes her eyebrows). My mom gets it done in Greenpoint, Brooklyn at one of the SPAs...Im sure the SPAs in the City do it, but Im not sure about anywhere else...its a popular European treatment so I dont know if any of the LI salons do it...FM me if you want to go to any of the salons in Bkln.

AgentAngel,
Where did you get it done? I have done a littl research and found 2 spas in New York that do it. both are $50. One is the Elle Bache Salon and the other is Shizuka but I have never been to either.
