I'm getting married in November 2009 and I've heard many brides are getting facial before their wedding. My skin is slightly sensitive and I have infrequent breakouts... .
Do you recommend it, and when will be the good time to start facial?

Re: Facial before wedding?
I would do it a few days before the wedding.

Re: Facial before wedding?
Do it one week before, I breakout slightly after facials (get little bumps) but usually goes away in a week.
There is some redness too.

actually i would try it one time now. Whatever you do DONT wait until a few days before the wedding to test it out. Everyone reacts differently, and sometimes your face can be swollen and red for a few days.
Plus depending what you need it for, doing something 1 time might not make the biggest difference. I started going 6 months before and going monthly.
BUt i would get it done soon just to see how your skin reacts, and then going a week before your wedding

Re: Facial before wedding?
I did mine a month before because I know my skin takes about a week for all the breakouts to surface after the facial and then about a week to clear. If I were you i'd get one now and take notice of how your skin reacts. I've been even paranoid about changing my face cleanser a month before. Hahaha...

If you know you have a tendency to break out I would do it atleast 2 weeks before. Just to play it safe.. or try one out now and if it works okay, then you know you can do it again pre-wedding without worrying as much!

professional cosmetologist here...
you should def do a test run now, see how your skin reacts...facials will most likely cause you to breakout of get a little red, this is from the toxins in your skin being released! After a test facial, you will be able to see what your face does and then you can plan accordingly for next year...either way i wouldn't not do it any closer then 2-3 weeks before the wedding.
also, make sure you tell them to use products for sensitive skin!!!!

I think I heard about two weeks prior!! You may want to try one ASAP so you know what happens.

My recommendation too! I would get one now as a 'trial' and see how long your face takes to recover if you do breakout. I am not trying anything new the month before my wedding.

Re: Facial before wedding?
I've never had one but I plan on doing it for the wedding.
However I will try ti sometime soon just to see how my skin reacts to it.
You should do the same just incase you have a major break out of skin gets red. That way you know how soon before to do it if at all.

I second that!! FMIL is an esthetician...amazing by the way!!! And that's exactly what she reccommends. Definitely do a test run now, it's good for your skin anyway!! And then before the wedding you'll know what to expect. She usually reccomends to have one done about every 6 weeks...its' really relaxing too!!

Do one now. . and then one next month, and then one a week before your wedding.. It has more cumulative effects and you can also have more chances to see how your skin reacts.

Re: Facial before wedding?
i read in some bridal magazine that you should start right away- getting an oxygen facial (dont know what it is) once a month and then of the month of your wedding dont get extractions done. HTH

the place i go to for facials does this and here is the description of it
'This is the facial you read about in magazines. This treatment is designed to detoxify, purify and nourish the skin using a highly concentrated molecular Oxygen Blast. Penetrating deep into the skin, oxygen stimulates the rejuvenation, healing and detoxification of cells. Experience the silky glow oxygen facials are known for, in only one treatment'
ALSO theres double oxygen facial and here is what it says
'The oxygen facial combines both the pure Oxygen Blast with an additional O2 Serum and masque for an even deeper level of skin rejuvenation'
but i would just go and see what they tell you to do. THey will know what is best for your skin and see what problems you have, we all have different issues and then they'll figure out which facial is best.

Re: Facial before wedding?
I would definitely avoid facials for a good month before your wedding, because you never know when your skin decides to be temperamental. Depending on your skin type, your facialist will tell you how often you need to go. I have no skin issues, so I tend to go twice a year.

Re: Facial before wedding?
i've read in magazines and seen on tv that they usually recommend that brides don't do facials within their wedding week. They recommend to do it 2 weeks in advance just in case your face gets irritated.
