I am going for my first ever facial tomorrow to get ready for the wedding. I was suppose to start awhile ago but of course I wait til the last minute. What should I expect after? Am I going to break out really bad? Am I not allowed to wear makeup for a couple days? Please help me.

Re: Facials
it really depends on the person. you should start with a basic facial and they should be able to tell you what you need or dont need. then the next time, you can go back specifically for things to improve your skin. you should feel good afterwards...i wouldnt put make up on right after but the next day you will be fine.
most importantly - have fun!

Re: Facials
I've been told there is a chance that you can break out after having it done. I've had them and that never happened, so I'm wishing you luck that you have no breakouts either.
I guess drink lots of water since it helps to flush out all the toxins in the body and make the skin look so healthy!!

Re: Facials
i've never broken out after a facial, but i know some people do. I would just not wear makeup that day if you can.

Re: Facials
I've never gotten one before because my skin is so sensitive I'm always afraid I'm going to break out really bad! Anytime I try a new product that's what ends up happening. Now I stick to the same old routine but I would still love to get one.

Re: Facials
I get red after one, but I don't break out. The first time I had one, about 6 - 7 years ago, I got very blotchy.
If you have sensitive skin, tell them to be careful. If you get broken capillaries on your face too (from blowing your nose, etc) tell them to be careful of that. Once a capillary is broken, the only way to fix it I think it with a laser treatment by a derm, which is expensive!!

Re: Facials
I have been getting them for over a year. I never needed to wear makeup right away, but I take a shower and apply my regular moisturizer. The only problem I have had is that sometimes they miss something in the extractions, and so I might get a few small breakouts right afterward, since they kind of, ya know, coax them out. So I would not recommend going less than 4-5 days before a big date.
I have very sensitive skin, and I go to a spa that uses all organic products. Never had any major problems. Actually, this week I got really stressed and broke out and my aesthetician was willing to help me right away and fixed the problem within 3 days. FM me and I can give you more information on the process and recommend a good place.

Re: Facials
it all depends on the person. I used to go somewhere else and yes i would be red and a bit swollen after. Now the person i go to, i dont have that problem

Re: Facials
Have fun! Where are you going for your facial? I would let them know it's your 1st one & if you have sensitive skin/ spots tell them that too. I am usually a little red after (from the extractions). Don't wash / touch your face after for several hours & I think that helps heal faster...
I think the products the place uses has a lot to do with breakouts. I go to Mario Badescu & there products react well with my skin & are good quality. However, I've had other facials, with more 'perfumy' products & I have broken out a bit...
Have a great time!!! Love facials... so relaxing...

Re: Facials
I have extremely sensitive skin. When I get facials I continue with my normal routine. I just dont wear makeup to the appt. If the person is good..you should not break out...its supposed to get out all the bad stuff so you dont. They will probably give you a new routine to do.
OOOH NOW I WANT A FACIAL

Re: Facials
It all depends on the person, but afterwards your face just feel soft and glow-y.
You shouldn't break out unless you have super sensitive skin. If she's a professional, she will know your skin type and work accordingly.
After you get the facial, you won't even feel like wearing make up for a couple of days since your skin feels really refreshed. But you can wear makeup the next day if you want.
