I am filling out the FAFSA form for next year, for my daughter....although I filled it out last year..I have no idea how I figured out 'Parent-Income Earned from Work'. I am getting conflicting answers on the internet.....anyone...please.....help!!!

Yes, but wouldnt that be 'Adjusted Gross Income'...this is another question about income, what would be the difference?

Your adjusted gross income is your W-2 wages PLUS all other types of income (interest, dividend, sale of stock, etc).

I am sorry if I sound dumb/ignorant when it comes to taxes,,, but I truly am, I never have done my own taxes....
I went to a FAFSA seminar when my daughter was still in HS, and I made a note that Income Earned from Work was calculated by taking Adjusted Gross Income-401K contributions...does that sound right to you? I can not find anything on the internet to support this.
I know I sound like a total idiot...but I have no idea!!

Did they change the form?? Because they normally have corresponding numbers to go with your W2. So it makes it easier to fill out.

I know if you fill it out at fafsa.ed.gov, they definately tell you the boxes each question corresponds to. I've been filling it out on there for years. I dont know if this helps you out or not...sorry. :(
