fake cakes are made out of styrofoam and permaice icing and covered with real fondant. They are also alot cheaper. Heres a site that does fake wedding cakes:LINK

my friends cake was fake except for the part they cut! they used regular sheet cake for the guests....saved a WHOOOLE lot of money and nobody knew!

yes. some of them are made out of styrofoam it saves a LOT of money. you just have the part you cut be real. and serve sheet cakes to the guests. no one will even notice.

I've never heard of that, what a great idea. If my cake wasn't included in my wedding package I would definitely do that.

my cake for my sweet 16 was fake....one layer is real...the one u cut into....saves money in the long run because u can just have them do a sheet cake in the back for your guests

I never heard of that before! great idea! our cake is included in our RH costs, so we're good to go, but this would be great for someone who doesn't get the cake as a part of the package.
