When I first had somebody ask me if I would ever do this I laughed and though how horrible and tacky. Then I saw the most amazing fake flowers in Target and I think it could come out really good. Nobody would know these weren't real unless they really inspected them.
I don't know if i'll actually save money however. These amazing fake orchids were $4 a stem... That sounds as much as the real thing to me. I also need to make one and see if it looks like crap or not. Im a nurse, not a florist and I have no idea what im doing!

Re: Fake floral centerpieces ....
the most reasonable high-quality silk flowers I've found were at Walmart... but they still werent that cheap.
We did live flowers for our ceremony decorations, bouquets, etc but I used silk flowers on our card box, yarmulke basket etc
My hall also has a few silk arrangements up -- i'll post a few pictures and you can tell me if they look fake. I think you can tell, but they still looked nice so we left them
in pic 3 the bouquets are real, but the arrangement on the table is silk
It will save you money than using real flowers but they are still money!
why don't you don candle centerpieces?

Re: Fake floral centerpieces ....
another good suggestion is potted plants. we did this for my shower and then let guests take them home.
a lot of places, even grocery stores, sell potted orchids (live) for maybe $10-20 including the pot.

Re: Fake floral centerpieces ....
i know there are some florist who specialize in fake floral centerpieces. maybe you should inquire to see how much that would cost compared to real flowers.

I would look into other options of saving money before doing fake flowers. Rita had a good idea of doing candles. I've seen some stunning candle centerpieces with lots of rose petals.

Re: Fake floral centerpieces ....
believe it or not, they actually look beautiful. For my sister's e-party, my aunt made 2 huge arrangements (she is VERY crafty),they were so GORGEOUS... my sister gave one to our mother and one to FH's mother.. if it makes sense financially then i say why not?

Re: Fake floral centerpieces ....
My friend's cousin did fake arrangements...and they were beautiful...and much cheaper to make. What I liked about them is that people could take them home and use them forever. I am having a hard time spending 5k on flowers that die. LOL
